One Nation Under Judgement

The nation is all a buzz with the news of McCain choosing little known Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin to be his running mate and now the news of the Palins unmarried pregnant teen daughter.  I have read countless articles and I sit here in amazement at how quickly our nation is further plummeting into the abyss.

Sarah is 44 and the mother of 5 children –19 years old and under.  She gave birth to a premature special needs newborn in April and returned to work 3 days after he was born.  Now her 17 year old unmarried daughter is 5 months pregnant and Sarah’s husband is…well, a stay-at-home dad while Sarah parades around the country pursuing political fame.  Sarah says she can raise her children and run the nation and reading her flaming feminist rhetoric is enough to send chills down my back.

Why doesn’t this sound bizarre to the Christian community is the question I keep asking myself?  It is further proof that the majority of the Christian community is so watered down in the sludge of cultural thought and gripped around the neck by the lies of feminism, they can’t determine heads from tails if they tried.

R.L. Dabney once quipped, “…when the mother shall have found another sphere than her home for her energies; when she shall have exchanged the sweet charities of domestic love and sympathy for the fierce passions of the hustings (or politics); when families shall be disrupted at the caprice of either party, and the children scattered as foundlings from their hearthstone, it requires no wisdom to see that a race of sons will be reared nearer akin to devils than to men.  In the hands of such a bastard progeny, without discipline, without homes, without a God, the last remains of social order will speedily perish, and society will be overwhelmed in savage anarchy.”

God does not mince words when He states his desires for His women and places upon them the honored place and sphere that only a woman can fill.  Many choose to overlook the fact that He has already given a clear picture of how we as women are to conduct ourselves as pleasing servants of the Lord first and foremost.   Titus 2:4-5 states, “That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.”

Dabney goes on to say, …”the very traits which fit her to be the angel of a virtuous home unfit her to meet the agitations of political life, even as safely as does the more rugged man.  The hot glare of publicity and passion will speedily deflower her delicacy and sweetness.  Those temptations, which her Maker did not form her to bear, will debauch her heart, developing a character as much more repulsive than that of the debauched man as the fall has been greater.  The politicating woman, unsexed and denaturalized, shorn of the true glory of her femininity, will appear to men as a feeble hybrid manikin dwarf, with all the defects and none of the strength of the male.  Instead of being the dear object of his chivalrous affection, she becomes his importunate rival, despised without being feared!”

I have to disagree with my friend Wendy Wright, President of Concerned Women for America, who released this statement:

“Governor Palin will change the dynamics of the entire presidential race. Her admirable record of confronting corruption and living her pro-life convictions shows she is a doer, not just a talker. Sarah Palin will make history as a vice presidential candidate – and not simply because she’s a woman, but because she’s a woman of substance and character.”

Certainly, God calls us to confront corruption and walk out our faith, not just talk about it.  However, God has ordained the means by which we are to live and we are not free to forgo the means to obtain the end by our own human wisdom.  A women of true substance and character…a pro-family woman does not abandon her newborn, her family or her home to go run around the country politicking in the hopes of serving as the running mate to a man who is not her husband and striving after a sphere that God has not made her for.

Evangelicals breathe a sigh of relief because “out of the options before us….at least she is pro-life..and seemingly conservative….so that must mean she is qualified and has our support.” The evangelical community has placed being pro-life above being pro-biblical…and has, in droves, offered their support for her as V.P.  It doesn’t matter that Palin is not even Biblically qualified on many levels to serve in the civil sphere as vice president….or even governor for that matter!

As in all areas of life, we must first ask,  “What saith the Scriptures?”

Obama, Biden, McCain or Palin or Hillary…none are Biblically qualified leaders a Christian can vote for.

Our country needs strong, Biblically sound, able, God fearing men of truth (Ex.18:21)..leading… and the Palin family needs momma at home rocking her cradle ruling the world within the sphere God has made her perfectly for.

We are living in a nation under judgement.  As Isaiah 3 says, “As for My people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them.  O My people!  Those who lead you cause you to err, and destroy the way of your paths.”

  • I understand you issues but when the choice is Obama or McCain does one sit idly by and not vote at all.
We all fall short of the glory of God.
That includes me, you and Sarah.
I also believe wives and mothers should be at home.
Not everyone makes the very best choices.
But that does not mean that their lives can’t be blessed.

I don’t believe that unmarried women with no children have no place in this world.
And I don’t believe that women are to be submissive to all men, just there husbands.
Thanks for letting me share, Leticia

I agree with you, Beth! I’ve read countless articles and it’s as if we suddenly have a new savior the way people are singing the praises of the republican party! To us, it’s quite obvious that McCain’s pick was nothing more than a ploy to pull in the conservative vote, and boy, have conservatives taken the bait. We feel almost alone in our stance against Palin, but if we align ourselves with the standards of the Bible, how can we in good conscience vote this way. I don’t believe God requires of us to vote for one candidate just to keep out the “more undesired” one. We must be faithful to our convictions and be steadfast in our walk. God is in control and His will will be done! Who of us will remain faithful?

Thanks for posting on this topic!
    Soli Deo Gloria!

  • I am so thankful to see more and more people standing up for what God says to be the way we are to live. I am so tired of the rhetoric and the “but what if Obama wins”. Well if he wins then that is obviously what God wants.

We believe that as Christians we are not free to vote for the lesser of two evils…. out of fear that the really bad guy will get in office if I don’t support the lesser bad guy.

It has been said that the Democrats are going off the cliff at 100 miles an hour…and the Republicans are going off the cliff at 60 miles an hour. Both are still going off the cliff!

Some believe we should still support the Republicans because after all….they aren’t as bad because they aren’t speeding off the cliff like the democrats and if we really try hard we still have time to stop or turn around.

Our point is…No compromise and you can’t ever support the idea of supporting the lesser of two evils from Scripture.

The true church arises and is made stronger through trials and persecution–history teaches us that. Most American Christians are scared of that.

Our nation is under judgement and we Christians need to swallow the fact that our easy American life as we know it will not last long when we as a nation have mocked and scorned God’s holiness and justice and embraced evil — How proud of us to think that by electing the lesser of two evils we can possibly halt or stay the hand of God upon our land.

We vote for solid biblically qualified candidates–as Christians, that is what we do.

Like Candace said… We must be faithful and steadfast –God is in control and His Will be done.

  • BethTN says:

Absolutely…We have all sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God…

However, when we sin….God says to repent and turn from our own ways and seek God’s ways.

The role of women is a huge topic with much heightened charge when discussed –especially with the entrenched culture of feminism you and I live in these days.

I believe that women are to operate within the sphere God has placed her (men operated in the spheres / roles God has placed them)…does this mean she only gets to clean house and do laundry?? Absolutely not– Does this mean that I think less of single moms or unmarried women??? Absolutely not. I have very good friends that are single moms and friends that are unmarried. (all with the desire to be married and to have children though….and those who can not have children, I have been blessed by seeing their attitude towards children and their servants heart to help those around them that have children….these women are a blessing to me and I believe pleasing to the Lord–being content and serving in the position God has them in.)

Thank you for the great post!

Beth, thanks so much for this post. There is indeed much scriptural wisdom here, and as such I wholeheartedly agree!

  • Cathy says:

Amen! My husband and I were just discussing this tonight. We came to the conclusion that we must stand firm and cling tightly to the truth of the Bible. We mentioned how easily it would be to vote for McCain as we can’t stand the thought of Obama being elected, but a vote for McCain would compromise our faith in the Bible and the Father Almighty. We too came to the one conclusion that gives us hope: God is in control no matter what. Thanks for the post Bethany – well written and honest.

  • BethTN says:

Cathy…we too have had lots of discussion about it !

EliandCami–great posts on your blog about the topic too!

Has everyone here been so brainwashed by those who control the media, yes, those same elite who are financing BOTH McCain AND Obama, that you have all overlooked (Pastor) Dr. Chuck Baldwin who is running on the Constitution Party ticket? If you are unfamiliar with him, please Google him and check him out on YouTube. He is a solid Christian man whose plank stands on Scripture. Christ tells us not to settle for the lesser of two evils and still wind up with evil, but to continue the fight until He returns. Responsibility is ours, results belong to God. Don’t let the devil convince you that Baldwin can’t win because he isn’t on the Republican ticket. That’s exactly what the devil wants you to believe. This is not a horse race…we are not trying to make sure we vote for the “winner”. This is the time to TAKE A STAND FOR YOUR VALUES and may well be the most important vote any of us will ever have the chance to cast again. Both Mccain and Obama have proven themselves dedicated to more federal control over our lives, and both will put us under the UN which believes and has stated, that all our rights come from government and government can take them away. The UN also advocates forced abortion for population control. Do not vote for either choice that leads to Godless One-World Government…if it is to come, make them shove it down our throats as we resist with every breath that God has given us.

My husband and I have agonized over our vote this year…and prayed that God would show us CLEARLY what to do. When Palin was chosen…we looked at each other and said, “God just made it CRYSTAL CLEAR!” We will not be voting for McCain. We certainly don’t want Obama, (and of course would never vote for him either) but as Joseph Farah points out, if McCain gets in, the Republicans will be blamed for the YUCK that is coming down the pike in the next 4 years. And they won’t have learned ANY lesson! But if Obama gets in…the Democrats can take the fall…the Republicans will have learned where the people REALLY stand (maybe….) and will hopefully get their act together and be poised for a victory with a biblically qualified candidate in four years. But I guess deep down, we agree that our country is going down the tubes because God’s hand of judgement really is on us now. Praise God that someday KING JESUS WILL REIGN! AMEN!

  • PaulTN says:

gnipgnat, one quick comment – Jesus is Reigning! He said it is finished and is seated at the right hand of God the father. – UNTIL his enemies are made His footstool. He is ever patient as He waits for His church to be what he called her to be… faithful.

When the church is faithful we will again be salt and light to the world, instead of being trodden under the foot of the feminist, the secularist, evolutionist, etc… When the church is being salt and light, then it starts to be “done on earth as it is in Heaven”.

Today the culture drives the church. Not because Christ is not reigning, but because the church is not obedient to the Word he has given us… But the good news is He has given us all authority and has commanded us to make disciples of nations!

You have said what I have wanted to say perfect! Thank you for that. I hope you don’t mind, but you said it so perfect that I wanted to share it on my blog… I did, I made shure to leave a link back here,,,, My family was cheering on Ron Paul when he was running for President. He really was our best choice and they didn’t want us to know that or what he was telling us. Now we encourage voters to check out Chuck Baldwin, whom Ron Paul is voting for, too. Chuck Baldwin is fighting for our Constitution and what it stands for, not person wealth. Chuck Baldwin knows that our America was based on solid Godly views, He will fight to protect our families, not make more laws that put government over our families, our land and our money. The Republician Party has changed. It no longer stands for the people. Both parties are working for the same goal,,,and we the people are not on the heads up of that goal. It doesn’t take much to see this,, if everyone would just open their eyes. With that said,,, please everyone do vote! We do still have more options, and we should use those options while we are still blessed enough to have it. Thank you for posting your views,,,,,you are one, but you are reaching others, whom, with God on our side, will reach out and touch others, on and on. God will remember His soldiers. Blessings to you and your fam. xo SR
