Brittany,

My wife votes too... that is the government we live under. But if we are talking about biblical principles then the government would recognize the husband as the sole representative for his household according to God's structure for family life.

Even before the women's rights women began their march for androgyny women had the right to vote. A widow who inherited her husband and was the head of the household had a vote as a property owner.

The idea of a single woman however is a novelty of this century, this is the real issue. Prior to that time a woman was the wife of her husband or a daughter in her father's house. There have always been exceptions such as in the case of orphans, but the notion of a woman growing up with the intention of being "single" and independent of her family is a recent development and antithetical to the bible.

I am against feminism but I believe there is nothing wrong with a woman voting. My mom and dad vote. There has not been any problems because of that. My mom is a great housekeeper but every election she goes out and vote. Both of my parents have the same political views so there is no conflict. I don't believe a woman voting is evil as long as it don't cause conflict with her husband. Also what about single women? Please email me at [removed].

Paul:

I know you know this, but for the benefit of your readers, let me suggest an excellent resource. It is The Monstrous Regiment of Women, produced by Colin Gunn. Here is the website address: http://www.monstrousregiment.com/

This is a very good documentary that goes into great detail on the harm feminism has wrought on women in particular. Mrs. Jenny Chancey is one of the ladies interviewed in this production. She used to be a self proclaimed "Christian Feminist," but has seen the error of her ways and repented. She now runs an excellent website: http://www.ladiesagainstfeminism.com/

Now Paul, I'll share something that you may not be aware of. Colin Gunn is about to release audio interviews with the same ladies he interviewed in the DVD. I have previewed these, and they are excellent! There are 12 audio interviews ranging between 43 and 65 minutes in length, each. If you've seen the Monstrous Regiment DVD you won't want to miss the much more in depth audio interviews. Mrs. Chancey's interview alone is worth the purchase price of the audio set. Colin has not yet released the audio interviews. But if you want to be contacted when they are available, sign up today at http://www.colingunn.com/

Blessings,
Mike Southerland

Paul:

I was reading an article that spoke to the issue of Christians so being immersed in the culture that they cannot see the problem that surrounds them. They are so close to the culture that change becomes very hard. This does not just touch on the issue of feminism but many other areas such voting, schooling and many others.

My firm conviction is that at issue is the sufficiency of scripture and ultimately the sufficiently of God. When the “professing church” is so immersed in the world that it manipulates scripture to meet its needs a myriad of issues arise. First the Old Testament is basically thrown out and not just the blatant imperatives but even the principle those imperatives dictate. Next in line is to moralize the scriptures so that there are no absolutes and the end result is a “church” that looks just like the world and a church that does not see the problem.

Thanks for your article as it will take people standing firm on God’s word to counteract the problems at hand. The great struggle is that many of those, I am speaking of those professing to be Christians, that are immersed in the culture speak of using God’s word but it is a use driven by what is around them and they do not even seem to notice it. Again thanks for your thoughts.

"I don’t think most Christians, women or men, realize how inundated we are by the philosophies of this world..."

Paul,

I agree with you wholeheartedly on this! I have to admit that the last six months or so has been one of many challenges for me. I've realized that much of what I "knew" as a Christian was at least partially based on an incorrect worldview. I'm so thankful that you took the time to address the comments Lara made. I only wish I were as able to state what I believe and why... I will continue to return to your blog as a source of encouragement in my own walk. Thank you for providing Biblical references to all your beliefs. They have helped me immensely.
