Speaking of Turkey

Some husbands bring their wives cut roses and chocolate, my husband brings me wild turkey.

After years of marriage and many children, he still impresses me. A flock of about 40 turkey were in our side yard garden area. A few minutes later he walks in with a present for me.

He actually spared me the dirty work and when I returned from running some errands, he had a turkey ready for me in the refrigerator. When we returned, I put the kids to cleaning it up a bit.

After several good scrubs and rinses, it was ready to go.

My daughter made stuffing and stuffed the bird.

After several hours in the oven wafting smells of Thanksgiving were in the air.

After supper, I thought, “Maybe we wouldn’t starve after all…..

Bethany, the more I read your blog, the more I’m ready to pack up and move to the country! Actually, that is our future goal, but I’m even more excited about it and ready to do it NOW! We have six children, and boy, would they love the small farming life. My grandparents have a ranch in northern CA where they raise animals for food and garden and such! It’s definitely one of the kids favorite places to visit….ours too! Thanks for letting us live vicariously through your writings!

Your Welcome…we love it…it is always an adventure! We do not have enough room here to do all the farming / animals / gardening that we would like to be doing, however, we are trusting that God has the timing and plan for that. It is hard to wait though!!

    I love your kitchen!
I miss my kitchen with the window below the sink…. *sigh*
BUT… I do NOT miss my 150sf kitchen/dining room and home school room all in 1. LOL!!
Anyway – when we renovate the kitchen I think I’m going to put in the tan countertops. They look really nice. I had dark black in the other house – but I really like the brown – it really is a great neutral color w/o being too dark. Very nice!
You should post photos of your house now that you all are moved in and settled!

    Busy this week…but soon.
I have some “wish I would have done”…and” glad we did” comments on remodeling our kitchen…..
