baby burning calories

I was interested to find out that breastfeeding burns anywhere from 300 to 800 calories per day. Amazing isn’t it.
Some mothers find that breastfeeding doesn’t affect weight loss, other find that breastfeeding seems to drop the weight very quickly…sometimes too quickly.

    A funny for you….
    Tongue-tied pregnant woman
A doctor who confirms a woman’s first pregnancy asks her if she has any questions.
She replies, “Well, I’m a little worried about the pain. How much will childbirth hurt?”
The doctor answered, “Well, that varies from woman to woman and pregnancy to pregnancy and besides, it’s difficult to describe pain.”
“I know, but can’t you give me some idea?,” she asks.
“Grab your upper lip and pull it out a little…”
    “Like this?”
    “A little more…”
    “Like this?”
    “No. A little more…”
    “Like this?”
    “Yes. Does that hurt?”
    “A little bit.”
“Now stretch it over your head!”

My weight drops quickly and I must consume more than 2500 calories a day to keep my weight maintained…unlike my non-nursing/non-pregnant days where I had to watch to keep my weight down! ??? I’ve wondered if it’s the “way” I nurse. My two babies nursed generally every 1 1/2 to 2 hours through out the day with one or two “cluster” times (no pacifers or bottles) and then a 4-6 hour stretch at night followed by 2-3 hour nursings until morn. (except for teething, colds, growth spurts, etc…). However, my babies very rarely take more than 5-10 min at each feeding, except when going to sleep. And I don’t introduce foods until around 9mos. So, I pretty much nurse constantly for a year! Ha! I wonder if this keeps my metabolism high? Whatever it is, I’ve enjoyed it. 🙂
